It has been a wee while since the last newsletter, but
nevertheless the Combined Clubs has been working behind the
scenes with various groups and Local Bodies around the
Canterbury area. Our presence as a lobby group is starting to
become known; as can be evidenced by our acknowledgement on the
front of a colour flyer recently published by ECAN.Public
Liability Insurance
PL Insurance is now up and running through the Combined Clubs
providing a good savings to the eight member clubs. A real
benefit and good payback to offset the small cost of funding the
Combined Clubs.
Carter Holt Harvey Forest
Access to three CHH Forest areas (Mt Thomas, Balmoral & Ashley/Okuku)
has been confirmed over the previous months with a 28 Clause
License Agreement having been ratified.
All Club member vehicles accessing the Forest will need to be
inspected by a CHH Representative which will occur at a
specified time and date. A one-off cost of $10 per vehicle for
the inspection is required to be paid, at which time all
vehicles having passed the inspection process will be “stickered”.
This inspection sticker lasts for a period of two years. A
minimum specified equipment list is required to be carried in
vehicles, which is not really any different to that which most
Clubs already require.
Clubs wanting to access the three areas will need to co-ordinate
their activities
through a booking system run by the Combined Club.
Contact for access to this area is through:
Brent McGuire
Ph 384 3479
email: bmedr@ihug.co.nz
Paul Dolheguy
Ph 359 9956
email: pauldol@xtra.co.nz
To arrange access and “inspection” of vehicles contact the
above.
Track access pamphlets are currently being put together for
useage as CHH require a trip plans to be supplied/filed.
General Business
The AGM of the Comb Clubs was held recently
Chairperson: Brent Maguire
Secretary /Tres Kaye Curwood
Most of the Club Representatives have taken responsibility to
act as eyes & ears on the different local lobby groups.
Tracks and Access
The Ashley Track has had another working bee recently. Local
Club members
turned up and vented any frustrations out on the local
broom and gorse populations.
The track was also “re-blazed” and remarked to allow the track
to be followed easily from either end along with having some of
the ruts filled in.
Further work was carried out on track realignment by-passing a
planted radiata forest. The new section now needs some useage so
it can be easily seen.
