Welcome to the North Canterbury 4WD Club
We aim to provide a safe and enjoyable 4WD experience for owners
of 4WD vehicles with a dual range gearbox. This safety and
enjoyment comes from everyone working together towards a common
goal.Why join a club?
Clubs have a wide range of 4WD expertise and experience gained
over many years, and this is passed on to new members through
training, during trips and around the bar.
Travelling as part of a club convoy allows you to venture into
much tougher ground than you could on your own. Some members
belong just for the monthly meetings, an opportunity to swap
technical information and talk 4WD.
The NC4WD Club endorses the Tread Lightly Code of Ethics, and
members are required to abide by this. The committee can then
guarantee the conduct of club members when gaining access from
authorities or landowners to areas that would otherwise be off-
limits.
Membership:
Our annual fee is $20.00 and is payable when you apply for
membership. We recommend that you attend 2 or 3 meetings and at
least 3 trips before you fill out the membership application.
This gives you a chance to check us out and vice versa.
Meetings:
We meet at the Brook Hotel, Southbrook, Rangiora on the first
Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm (except in January) Regular
Events: Each month we try to run at least 3 events
- Sunday Social : This is held on the Sunday following the
meeting. We go out for a drink and a meal at a family type
restaurant. All members and their families are most welcome
to come along and discuss trips, trucks and other bull.
- Trips: We try to run at least two trips each month,
usually one day trip and one weekend trip. All our trips are
graded on a scale of 1 to 5, with one being shingle
roads and 5 being serious bush bashing where winches are
usually required.
- Other Events: Mid- winter Christmas Dinner: held
annually either locally or as part of a weekend trip.
- Christmas Picnic: a family barbecue and picnic with an
emphasis on the children, young and old, having fun. 4 X 4
Show: the club supports this day with a display and
manpower.
- Basil Philp Trophy: this is the Canterbury interclub
teams recovery event. The North Canterbury club has a proud
history in this event; you don’t need a tough truck and you
don’t need to be a rocket scientist to get involved.
- Training: The club runs a training programme and you
need to attend this before attempting trips graded 4 & 5
- Awards:
The Rubber Duckie: This trophy is awarded at the monthly
meeting for any indiscretion, in or around water. The Tow
Hook: This trophy is awarded for towing or getting stuck in
some spectacular way.
